Wildlife photography with the Canon 40D and Sigma 70-300 APO DG Zoom lens in South Africa

Just got back from a couple of weeks in South Africa, photographing wildlife in the Medikwe game reserve on the Botwana border at Tau lodge. I primarily used the Sigma 70-300 APO DG Zoom lens with my Canon 40D, seemed to work a treat. This was one of the first main outings since getting the 40D, so was nice to put it through its paces! The dials were a joy to use, much easier to navigate than my old 300D, everything is exactly where it should be. The Sigma produced some great images, and enabled me to get up pretty close to what I wanted – and coupled with the high ISO low noise factor of the Canon 40D’s sensor I managed to get some hand held shots that normally I wouldn’t have been able to get. I have sorted a couple of photo’s so far.. see below. Will get some more done when I can. Here are a couple of shots of the lion using the Sigma 70-300 APO DG: Wildlife with the Canon 40D and Sigma 70-300mm APO DG Zoom lens
