Norwich UEA Charity Fashion Show 2007 – DKA

Posted on | December 12, 2007 | No Comments

I recently took a number of photographs of the DKA set at the Norwich UEA Charity Fashion Show last week, it was an excellent night, the standard of dance and modelling was the best yet I thought.

Taking photo’s was a nightmare to start with in the two sets I needed to get, the light was probably the darkest I had ever encountered there, so I put my camera into full  manual and set the shutter speed as fast as I could go in the limited light, I was using the Canon 50mm f/1.8 prime lens, and left it on f1/8 pretty much the whole night, on my Canon 40D resting on a tripod. I had very little choice than to use a crazy high ISO, I used ISO 1600 and even ISO  3200 to get a half reasonable shutter speed. I had to manually change the settings for every shot, as the light would be on their faces and some points, then miles away the next , so there were no real standard settings I could have used effectively all night. The Canon 40D performed extremely well at these high ISO’s, I was hugely amazed to tell the truth, there is no way my old Canon 300D would have coped at ISO 3200 in the same way.

Everyone I spoke to enjoyed the Norwich UEA Fashion show, and the support from local businesses, especially from Norwich Lanes was as good as ever. I look forward to next year!
