Alocasias, repetition and rusty bars – Luganville, Vanuatu

I like this photograph for many reasons, maybe one is purely selfish, I love trying to grow Alocasia’s in the cold of the UK (Obviously inspired by Mr Will Giles). It could also be because it is cropped weirdly, lots of perspective lines dragging my eye all around the frame, or perhaps the rusty bars at the window as the wind lifts the fine patterned curtain up, as if a ghostly figure was watching me capturing the scene from the darkness inside. I like the jagged, hand hacked grasses in front of the house, the dirty front wall and sense of repetition of the tufts of grass. Either way, it’s a keeper, and a totally unexpected image as I ambled past.
